Grace Johnson, LCSW
I am an LCSW in the state of Pennsylvania. In my current role, I supervise a team of therapists providing substance use disorder and mental health treatment to participants within Southeast PA. I provide clinical supervision for state licensure. I also regularly monitor and support accurate and timely documentation within my program. I have supported my program through multiple state audits in a satisfactory way. In addition, I carry a small caseload to keep up to date with best practices. I am trained in EMDR, CBT, and DBT. I previously worked at Rise Above as a therapist, engaging with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and criminal justice involvement. I also facilitated curriculum-based and therapeutic groups for court-mandated and criminal justice involved individuals. Additionally, I provided various evaluations to individuals engaged in various stages of the criminal justice system. Previously, I worked as forensic lead case manager with Justice Related Services where I worked with individuals with a serious mental illness and criminal justice involvement. I earned my MSW from the University of Pennsylvania with a specialization in criminal justice. While studying for my MSW, I interned at the Goldring Reentry Initiative, where I provided therapeutic case management services to people exiting incarceration in the Philadelphia Department of Prisons (county jail system). I have a BSW from Eastern Michigan University with Departmental Honors in Social Work, where I wrote a senior thesis on racial disparities in women's incarceration rates. My areas of expertise include the intersection of gender, race, class, and involvement in the criminal justice system, as well as trauma-informed approaches. I am trained in Seeking Safety, an evidence-based approach for treatment of trauma and substance use disorders. I am passionate about the issues plaguing our criminal justice system and recovery communities, and I am excited to be engaged in a career that helps people improve their well-being while breaking free from systems of oppression.
